PLANS to construct a wind farm are on the agenda for the September meeting of Ramsbottom and Tottington Area Board.
The meeting is on Friday, September 9, at 7pm at Christchurch Neighbourhood Centre, Great Eaves Road, Ramsbottom.
A representative from Scout Moor Wind Farm will be attending the meeting to speak on the proposals, which consist of 26 large turbines, on the moors east of Edenfield and extending south as far as Knowle Moor.
The wind farm aims to provide clean, green electricity for more than 51,000 homes, preventing the release of 170,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
Ramsbottom and Tottington Area Board chair, Coun Dorothy Gunther, said: "The wind farm will be situated in Rossendale and Rochdale areas but will be very prominent from a wide area of Bury, particularly Ramsbottom.
"It is appreciated that we need to see the development of renewable resources of electricity but this is a very controversial matter to the people in this area because they need to know how it will impact on their environment. I am sure that the presentation planned for the meeting will be most informative and I encourage anyone with an interest to attend."
The meeting will also have its usual 45 minute open forum where members of the public can raise any issues of concern about local issues.
