AN irate dad ended up joining his son in police cells after the teenager was arrested for being drunk and disorderly inside Ewood Park during the game against Manchester City.

Blackburn magistrates heard that Geoffrey Wilson Hampton felt his son, Mathew Raymond Hampton, was being harshly dealt with and told police so.

Mathew, 19, of Ashley Road, Lytham, pleaded guilty to being drunk inside a designated sports ground. He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay £50 costs.

Geoffrey , 52, of the same address, admitted a breach of the peace and was bound over in the sum of £50 to keep the peace for six months. A charge of using threatening behaviour was withdrawn.
