A RECENTLY re-formed football team has taken the game by storm after reaching a final in its first competition.
Darwen Catholic Club FC has been re-formed, thanks to the managerial skills of David Hayes, and has raised a few eyebrows in its first five weeks.
After some intensive training, the team, aged between 18 and 24, reached the final of a borough competition held at Blacksnape Playing Fields.
David said: "People couldn't believe we'd only been together for five weeks.
"The team works really well together and if we carry on like this we'll be great in a few months' time."
The Catholic Club team now plays in the third division of the Blackburn Sunday morning league and its enthusiastic members train at St Peter's Primary School, Turncroft Road every Sunday.
David added: "We just want to carry on how we've started."
