TWO people were taken to Burnley General Hospital last night after a two-car crash at a junction in Rossendale Road, Burnley.
The couple, who were in a green Ford Mondeo, were not believed to have suffered serious injuries in the incident, which also involved a Ford Fiesta.
It happened at around 9.40pm close to the junction with Coal Clough Lane.
Fire crews from Burnley and the incident support unit from Accrington attended and firefighters and paramedics helped to release the female passenger. She was taken to Burnley General Hospital.
Station officer Neil Ashworth said: "We got a report that there were people trapped. There was a female passenger in the Mondeo who couldn't get out.
"She was suffering from no apparent injuries but her door had become jammed so we used our hydraulic rescue equipment to pop the door open. She was very shocked but there were no obvious external signs of injury. The driver seemed fine and was walking around."
No one in the Ford Fiesta was injured.
Traffic coming up the busy main road was directed around the smashed cars for about an hour until both vehicles were towed away.
