SEDGLEY Park RUFC kick-off their new National League Two campaign with a home clash against Harrogate tomorrow.

And the aim from the Park Lane club is clear - promotion to National League One!

Competition for places should make Park a formidable force this season with a number of changes on the personnel front.

Several players have left the club, notably Rob Moon who has returned to New Zealand while Mike Wilcock and Matt Alcock have both retired after putting in sterling service for the club, while Paul Rees has left to join Winnington Park.

Through the in-door are prop Matt Pinnock, hooker Richard Oxley and locks Steve Burns and Gareth Rawlings from Sale Sharks.

Mark Lloyd from Orrell is another forward and Ian Voortman, so impressive for Kendal last season, is a centre three-quarter.

In their three pre-season trial games Sedgley lost at Wakefield 0-22 then enjoyed home victories over New Brighton 40-29 and Liverpool St Helens 38-5.

Player-coach Tim Fourie said: "For the first time in my four years at the club the first fifteen won't be a foregone conclusion and that's a very healthy situation to be in.

"There will be no superstars this year and no-one getting wages, just win bonuses on offer for everyone."

Harrogate - in their ninth consecutive season in National League Two (or it's equivalent) - are also focused on promotion. Kick-off at Park Lane is 3pm.
