IT took a long time in coming but it was worth the wait when it did!

Stand saved their best performance of the season for local rivals Unsworth when they finally won on Sunday.

It could be said that it was more down to Unsworth losing it rather than Stand winning it but it saves the bottom club the humiliation of finishing the season without a victory to their name.

Stand were indebted to a brilliant bowling display from Carl Sutcliffe as they tore through the Unsworth batting line-up almost at will.

Only professional Rob McQueen (30) and Martin McBurnie (24) put up real resistance as Sutcliffe returned superb figures of 7-34 in just 14 overs. Stand professional Martin Hegg did provide good back-up with miserly figures of 2-49 from 20.3 overs as the visitors were all back in the hut for 110.

In reply, David Wass got Stand off to a flyer with a quickfire 42 but the real thanks were reserved for the Unsworth bowling attack as 46 extras were conceded in a paltry victory target of 112.

There were 13 wides and 18 byes in that total as the umpires were giving off more signals than a local radio station!

The win still keeps Stand bottom but they will fancy their chances of overtaking Unsworth before the season ends!
