HISTORICAL buildings in Burnley will be opening their doors for free this weekend to show off hidden architectural and cultural treasures.

Doors open to a number of sites as part of Heritage Open Days, a national event organised by the Civic Trust. Visitors will be able to take a look at the underground ice house at Towneley Hall, watch a demonstration by a blacksmith at Rourke's Forge and experience the life of the cotton weavers at Queen Street Mill Textile Museum.

To find out about all the events on offer from Friday, September 12 to Monday, September 15, visit Burnley Information Centre, at the bus station, or the Civic Trust website at www.heritageopendays.org.
