lCONTROVERSIAL plans to convert a former florists shop into a sandwich bar and takeaway in Atherton have been given the go-ahead.
Property developer Mrs K Waterworth had applied with Wigan Council to change the use of a florist shop on Market Street in Atherton into a sandwich and takeaway.
Seven residents had written to the planning department objecting to the proposals -- because they believed there were too many hot food takeaways in the town centre.
Despite local concerns, planners approved the proposals at a Committee meeting held last week.
