BUDDING engineers from Edge End High School got a taste of work experience with a difference at Pendle Training in Nelson.
Five students were the first to take part in a new scheme aimed at helping young people find out what engineering careers are really like.
They took part in an intensive two-week programme designing a weather vane on a computer, which included two days at Pendle Training,.
Pupils then got a chance to turn their designs into the real thing, spending a week at a local engineering company, making the components and finding out more about the business.
Graham Engineering, Pendle Engineering, Regal Precision Engineers and PDS all took part in the pilot and students told Pendle Training of their experiences.
Pendle Training Manager Steve Tomlinson said: "The students got a really varied work experience."
