PAUL Lynch is urging his Colne side to get back to basics after a double derby nightmare.

The North West Counties Division Two leaders, and one of the favourites for promotion this season after their squad with a number of good signings over the summer, came unstuck this week, first at home to Ramsbottom United, then at Padiham on Wednesday night.

But manager Lynch is confident his players are capable of bouncing back and starting another run tomorrow as they entertain league newcomers Eccleshall.

"There wasn't really a lot wrong in either of the games we've lost," he said.

"We just need to take our chances. We had plenty of opportunities to beat Padiham but if you don't take your chances, you don't win games.

"But the effort and commitment were definitely there.

"We were throwing men forward in the end trying to get the winner but they caught us on the break."

He added: "It's about getting back to basics now and getting on another run.

"I'd be happy if we won five and lost two all season because I still think that would be enough to win the league."

The Reds' boss admitted he didn't know much about Eccleshall, other than their mixed start to the season.

Instead, he was more than happy to concentrate on Colne's own game.

"I might tamper with the formation to make us more attacking, but if we play the way we can play we shouldn't have anyproblems in starting another run.

"And home advantage will count for a lot."

Steve Bird and Gary Rishton are doubtful for tomorrow's game after picking up knocks.
