OLDER people are being invited to hear how to avoid being the next 'falls' casualty.

A special event at the Royal Hotel in Heysham on Tuesday, June 8, will teach them how to reduce the risk of accidents in the home.

The coffee morning meeting starts at 10.30am and is free of charge. Even free transport can be arranged by organisers from the Lancaster and Morecambe Forum for the Older Person.

Chairman Mrs Ina M Acres says: "Falls are dangerous and the results can be expensive and uncomfortable. We hope older people in the area will have a morning to spare to find out how they can reduce the risk."

A pharmacist and the falls manager from the Morecambe Bay Primary Care Trust will be at the coffee morning to chat about dangers such as 'sloppy slippers', trailing cables and loose carpets.

There will also be a free raffle of safety equipment plus free packs of long life energy-saving light bulbs.
