POLICE sealed off three Blackburn streets after receiving reports of a gun being fired.

Three Iraqi asylum seekers were arrested when police were called to the London Road area of the town. Armed response officers sealed off streets on Saturday and searched homes and cars.

A dispute between the asylum seekers and local youths was said to have instigated the call to police. The men were later released on police bail pending further inquires.

Detective Inspector Jim Elston said: "Inquiries into this incident are ongoing but at this stage no firearm has been recovered and we are confident no shots were fired."
