THE family of a biker killed when his motorcycle collided with a van in Nelson said he died doing something he loved.

Jon Glover's girlfriend of three years, Joanne Stevenson, 22, has been devastated by his death.

The couple, who met when computer service engineer Jon was called to her workplace to fix a printer, had just moved into a home in Bolton Road West, Ramsbottom.

They had recently been on an adventure holiday in New Zealand and were planning to marry.

Joanne said: "We were just so perfect together. We were so happy - he was my soul.

"It is comforting to think that he died at such a happy time in his life and doing something he loved."

The Wednesday before he was killed, Jon, 27, and Joanne spent the evening with his mum, Jackie, and younger brother, Ryan.

Jackie, 47, of Parsonage Drive, Reedley, said: "There was lots of fun and and lots of laughter that night - we had a really nice time and I'm so grateful for that. We also had our picture taken together.

"I just don't think it has sunk in yet. One day everything is fine and then the next something has happened which turns your life upside down."

The former Habergham High School pupil, who grew up in Harle Syke, Burnley, got his love of bikes from dad David, who died when he was 16. He had his first road bike when he was 19.

Jackie said: "I always told him to stay safe and he was very careful on the roads that I never thought anything like this would happen. But the problem with motorbikes is that it doesn't matter how experienced the rider is there are always dangers out there that are out of your control."

After Jon's death his brother Ryan, 24, sold off his first motorbike, which he had bought just weeks earlier.

Jackie said Jon, who worked for CMS in Blackburn, was very adventurous and had tried bungee jumping and paragliding, as well as doing a parachute jump for charity.

His friends will choose music from one of his favourite albums, Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here, fort his funeral at Burnley Crematorium on Monday, at 12.30pm.

Jackie will also read a poem she has written for her eldest son. The final line reads: "I know he's in heaven now, leaving us filled with pain. Dad will now take care of you until we meet again."
