MILLIONS of morning television viewers will discover on Friday whether Radcliffe barber Darren Foster can have a dream wedding.

For the 31-year-old is hoping to tie the knot with sweetheart Sam Lilley (23) in spectacular style -- by winning GMTV's Wedding of the Year competition.

They are one of three couples competing to get hitched in front of the television cameras on September 3. The result of the viewers' poll will be announced on Friday.

The couple met at Chicago Rock, Bury, five years ago and became engaged two years later. They entered the competition after they were gazumped when trying to buy their first house .

Darren, who lives in Radcliffe and works at his father's barber shop in Bolton, said: "I think we are still in shock. It was very emotional when we found out we were in the final three. It's so exciting and a brilliant experience."

Viewers will decide every aspect of the wedding, including where the wedding takes place, food, invitations, the wedding dress, hair and make-up.

"The three choices of venue are Las Vegas, Cyprus or on a ship in Venice. If we win, we really don't have a preference -- anywhere would be fantastic. It all depends on the public now," said Darren.

Sam, from Hollins, Bury, is a shop assistant at Ann Summers in Bolton. She said: "I have had a few health problems over the last couple of years and after the house fiasco we just wanted something to cheer us up."

They travelled to the London studios for an audition last week and the couple were shortlisted.

On Monday, Darren and Sam were interviewed on GMTV by Fiona Phillips, where they talked about their lives together, their ideal wedding and their hopes for the future.

Sam said: "We were planning to save up for the wedding and hadn't really got any set plans. I have always dreamed of my dad walking me down the aisle and my family watching, so as long as that doesn't change I'm open to try anything!"

A GMTV spokesman said: "We chose them because they seemed a lovely couple and it shone out of them how much in love they are. It was also clear that Darren wanted to give Sam a very special wedding."Viewers can vote for Darren and Sam -- Couple B -- by visiting the website at www.gmtv.co.uk, connecting to the Wedding 2004 link and clicking on the couple's photograph.
