THE organiser of a popular Ramsbottom football tournament has blown the final whistle on his ten-year association with the competition.
Steve Orr, who is a police officer based at Bury, has decided to step down from organising the Ramsbottom and District Sports Advisory Council's five-a-side contest which headlines the annual Sports Week in Nuttall Park.
Steve, from Holcombe Brook, said: "It has been a marvellous ten years and the five-a-side competition has grown in stature and popularity. The football has always been of a high standard.
"There is a lot of hard work in organising the competition and I have achieved what I wanted to do. I will be looking forward to enjoying the rest."
