AROUND 50 volunteers mucked in to orchestrate a clean-up of Broadhey Estate in Ramsbottom.
Residents of Broadhey Residents Action Group (BRAG), Bury Council's countryside service, the borough's cleaning division and some Army Cadets formed the working party.
Representatives from Groundwork, and community police support officers helped and advised.
The general clean-up took place last Saturday ahead of a "deep clean" being planned by the council's cleansing section.
Ramsbottom and Tottington area co-ordinator Kim Griffiths said: "The residents' group have worked extremely hard to improve their area, and it looks like their hard work is beginning to pay off. Events like this are important in making everyone aware of the work the group are doing, and serves as a reminder that dropping litter and fly tipping is unacceptable.
"Some particularly grotty areas were identified on Saturday and these have been brought to the attention of the "Deep Clean" team now working in the area."
