GREEN-FINGERED parks gardeners from Preston City Council are going for gold this year with their entry in a national flower bed competition.
It will be the second time they have entered the Royal Horticultural Society Flower Show, at Tatton Park, Cheshire, after scooping a silver medal last year.
And they are hoping for the gold medal at this year's show from July 21-25, with their display to commemorate Preston's first municipal park, created in 1833.
It includes an open-top car with a parasol and picnic on a floral pathway surrounded by blue, gold, red and white bedding plants.
John Gornall, of Preston's parks department, said: "We hope the public will enjoy seeing the fruits of our labour, and come to visit some of the fantastic parks in Preston, which we are committed to preserving and improving."
