A LEIGH care worker is feeling the pinch after selfish morons stole two bikes -- in just three days.

The poor girl had the first wheeled away while she was attending a client last week, and because it was her only means of transport she had to buy another straight away to cover her calls.

Jennifer Chadwick tells me she was at her mum's in Jaffrey Street on Saturday just after 7pm when the Alpha Care worker arrived and told her the tale of her stolen bike.

Jennifer was about the leave the house when the pair were stunned to discover that the new bike, which was locked, had also gone, leaving the carer with four more clients between Railway Road and Butts Bridge relying on her that night -- and without transport to reach them. A nightmare scenario.

These heartless robbers don't realise the pain they cause by their actions. This carer works long, unsocial hours helping old, infirm and needy people in the community, and can well do without the added stress of being a double victim of theft.

Perhaps if anyone saw someone wrestling with a locked bike in the Jaffrey Street area on Saturday night they'd be kind enough to inform the police. I do hope they will.

LEIGH'S PDSA charity shop, which helps pets in need of vets, is also counting the cost after vandals smashed the glass in the newly-refurbished shop's front door. Valuable funds have had to be spent repairing the damage, money which has been raised through kind donations from local people - including my parents and their neighbours. They give to help needy animals not stupid humans.
