PROTESTS against post office privatisation could not go ahead when literature was locked in a car. Disappointment struck half an hour before the demonstration outside Darwen Town Hall when the one and only key broke in the boot lock of one of the protesters' vehicles. Petitions, balloons and placards were in the Ford Escort and the protests were over before they could begin.
