A WOMAN has sold up lock, stock and barrel and is planning to jet off to sunny Spain in a bid to ease the symptoms of a condition that makes her feel the cold intensely.

Judith Wilkinson, 59, of Odell Road, Walton-le-Dale, plans to live in the picturesque village, Rojales, south of Alicante on the Costa Blanca, with 60-year-old husband David.

The retired Inland Revenue administrative officer suffers from Sjogren's disease, a rheumatic condition that could be linked to arthritis.

She also has the circulatory disorder, Raynaud's disease, which can interrupt the blood supply to extremities if a cold object is touched or there is exposure to any kind.

Mrs Wilkinson said: "I feel the cold intensely from November through to April. I get a loss of feeling in my hands and feet and it causes me to feel extremely cold and I just can't keep the circulation going and if I let them get too cold then I'm in serious bother."

The couple, who enjoy walking and have been taking Spanish lessons in time for their move, will leave chilly Britain behind on September 7 and fulfil a dream they have shared since marrying seven years ago.

"We want to join our local walking club and want to learn golf and I want to do some work in the local animal rescue shelter," said Mrs Wilkinson.

"We might even work for our son who works at an estate agents and meet and greet people looking to buy property over there. But that's not definite yet."
