RONNIE Moore is hoping to break out into a wide smile when he glances at Burnley's teamsheet tonight.

The Rotherham manager can be forgiven for scanning the line-up for the whereabouts of son Ian.

And if, like last Saturday, Moore is deployed wide on the right instead of his preferred striking role, no-one will be more merry than the Millers boss.

He said: "Burnley played a funny system against Sheffield United last Saturday and I don't know whether that will come into Steve Cotterill's thinking again.

"He might believe he stands a better chance playing us than Sheffield United, but all I know is that if Ian is playing out on the right, no-one will be more delighted than me!"

Moore Snr doesn't have to look too far for more familiar names in the Clarets starting line-up.

He laughed: "It seems nowadays I know more of their players than my own! I obviously had Ian, Graham Branch, Danny Coyne and John McGreal at Tranmere, so there's a nice little connection there.

"I genuinely think Steve has started well at Burnley and he's pulled off a real coup by signing McGreal.

"He is a terrific player - a ball winner and someone who rarely gives the ball away. All round they look a stronger side and we know it's going to be another tough game."

Moore insists his main aim this season is again survival. And he believes Cotterill may be of a similar mindset over the coming months.

"Burnley will possibly be the same as us, because I always start the season looking for three sides worse off than us," he insisted.

"This league seems to get harder every year and a lot of the smaller teams have fallen by the wayside now.

"I still feel we do magnificently with gates around 7,000 and in this league, home games against the likes of Burnley become doubly important.

" It will be a tough game and I know Burnley haven't got the best record at Millmoor down the years.

"But I don't like stats like that because they have to end sometimes. Hopefully not tonight!"
