FIRE crews battled to tackle flooding that affected a row of terrace houses in Laneshaw Bridge.
Six houses in Southfield Terrace suffered flooded basements after heavy overnight rain.
Firefighters from Burnley and Nelson battled to pump the water from the properties into the nearby Colne Water. They were called to the scene at about 7am today and were expected to be there for several hours.
Resident Tim Beasley, 31, who only moved to the area six weeks ago, said: "I'm not sure whether we have been affected as I don't know whether we have a basement as we have only just moved in.
"I'm getting married in three weeks so this is not really what we needed.
"We will have to pull up the carpets and have a look at what damage there is, if any."
Station officer Richard Taylor, of Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, said: "Flood water has affected around six houses by getting into basements and it is a case of trying to pump them out."
