I AM writing this letter on behalf of my father who was Sergeant Patrick Battle.
He served with the East Lancashire Regiment in Gallipoli and Mesopotamia, where he was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal. He and many, many more old soldiers would have been outraged at the proposed merger of the East Lancashire Regiment.
So, Mr Hoon, hands off "The Lancashire Regiment" and our heritage.
