I WAS waiting in Bury bus station behind a long queue. A bunch of schoolboys walked calmly to the front and pushed their way on when the door opened.
They then occupied all the seats meant for old people and mothers with prams or stood bunched together just behind the driver, making it difficult for following passengers and ignoring the request of the driver to shift along the bus.
Two elderly ladies carrying shopping, one needing a stick, were left standing. No boy sitting offered his seat. Though in my eighties, I would have offered mine but I was trapped by standing passengers.
The parents of these boys had obviously failed to instil good manners into their sons and I wonder if the modern curriculum allows teachers the time to teach common etiquette. Schools are identified by the pupils' uniforms and such behaviour reflects badly on the school. Sadly this lack of good manners will eventually be passed on to the children of these youngsters.
DECENTLY BROUGHT UP OLD 'UN
