LIAM Denning could make his comeback from suspension tonight - against his former club Great Harwood.

The Ramsbottom youngster is likely to take his place on the bench as his new club goes head to head with the side he left in the summer.

And manager Derek Egan hopes Denning will be playing his part in the Rams' continued progress in the North West Counties Division One table.

"I don't think he will start, but Liam's itching to play," Egan said.

"He hasn't been available since the first match of the season, but he's been to every training session and almost every game.

"He's seen the lads do really well, so hopefully he'll be able to get on."

Meanwhile, Great Harwood manager Dave Bradford knows they have a tough task on their hands to stop the Rams' run.

"They're probably the best team that I've seen in the league at the moment," he said.

"Derek's doing a great job there. They have some good, young players and the right shape.

"They're having an excellent time, whereas we're have a bad time, but we're going to try to upset the applecart tonight."

However, Bradford knows the Robins will need to improve on Saturday's performance at home to Atherton Collieries when they went down 3-0.

"For the first time this season I had to hold my hand up and say that we simply weren't good enough," he said.

"The first half wasn't too bad but we can't seem to play well for a full game.

"I was very disappointed with the display and we deserved absolutely nothing."

Great Harwood's cause tonight will not be helped by the likely absences of John Eastham and Andy Taylor through injury.

James Dean could also be unavailable, but Bradford is bringing Neil Baron back to the Showground to shore up the defence.

"We're struggling for centre halves," the Robins chief said.

"We need a few more experienced players to go with all the kids I've brought in."
