CLITHEROE ended a run of six successive defeats with a victory over their illustrious hosts.

Manager Lee Sculpher's call for more goals seemed hapless when lone striker Gary Jackson limped off injured but Clitheroe continued to play some neat football and took the lead on 40 minutes.

Paul Stansfield released Steve McDonald on the right and he cut inside the penalty area to fire the ball past the goalkeeper.

Telford pushed forward more in the second half and a backs-to-the-wall display from Clitheroe continued to frustrate the large home crowd.

A header for the home side was cleared off the line and then Kris Richens was called into action with a couple of smart saves.

McDonald again played a key part in the second goal, this time his strong run and cross was forced home at the far post by Neil Spencer.

Telford continued to attack but couldn't find a way through.
