DARWEN had a close encounter of the mysterious kind when a resident reported spotting a UFO.
The Marsh Lane resident reported the sighting to police at about 10pm - but police dismissed it as a low-flying aircraft. The Civil Aviation Authority said it did not know of the sighting but was not aware of any low-flying aircraft in the Darwen area. A British Aerospace spokesman said there were no test flights at the time.
