FIGURES revealing the number of people living on the streets has reached an all-time high have been condemned by Bury councillor, Vic D'Albert.
Coun D'Albert, the Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Bury, believes the Government does not have the true figure on homelessness because it does not account for people being "put up" by friends or even sleeping at work.
He said: "This is the tip of the iceberg. It is appalling that in 21st century Britain we find this problem worsening. The Government has let down the homeless and its response is to panic build across our countryside."
