PADIHAM completed a league double over promotion rivals Silsden with a 3-1 win at the Arbories, extending their advantage over their opponents to eight points.

In front of their biggest league gate of the season, Padiham took the lead after 17 minutes with a well-worked move that started in their own half and ended with Daniel Stubberfield running onto Craig Chadwick's through ball to tuck it neatly away.

Silsden equalised controversially on 35 minutes the goalkeeper Rob Batty caught the ball from a cross but lost possession after he was barged down, allowing Martin Bland to equalise from close range.

But Neil Almond restored the Storks' lead two minutes before half-time.

Stuart Telfer unleashed an absolute screamer on 55 minutes to make it 3-1 and an even bigger winning margin looked on the cards. But debutant Liam Denning, Almond, Telfer and Anderson all missed chances.

Five minutes from time both teams were reduced to 10 men when Padiham's Stuart Telfer and Silsden's Gary Lund were sent off.

NELSON will look to replay their game at Oldham Town after the match was abandoned on 84 minutes because of an off-the-field incident.

Nelson were trailing 3-0 through two Wes Cathcart goals added to Tony Deakin's opener on the stroke of half-time.

DARWEN kicked off the New Year on a high thanks to Neil Zarac's 52nd minute winner at home to Daisy Hill.
