GENEROUS villagers have come up with a sizzling idea to raise money for victims of last week's tsunami - selling bacon butties.
Residents in four Ribble Valley villages - Dunsop Bridge, Newton-by-Bowland, Slaidburn and Tosside - wanted to help the international fundraising effort.
So they hit upon the idea of a coffee morning with the sandwiches.
Scheduled between 11am and 2pm on Sunday at Newton Village Hall, the event has already attracted widespread interest across the Hodder Valley and several local business have stepped in to make donations.
Julie Harrison, a Slaidburn resident and event organiser, said: "We have called the event the Hodder Valley Community Response, which is a rather grand title for us selling bacon butties for donations.
"But we thought we had to do something for the victims. This valley has often been threatened by floods, but nothing compared to what happened in South East Asia."
Local butchers have already pledged to donate some bacon while school children from the villagers will also get involved.
