BLACKBURN Rovers manager Mark Hughes has set his sights on FA Cup glory as he prepares for tonight's third round replay with Cardiff City at Ewood Park.

Rovers have an excellent chance of progressing in the competition with a home match against Colchester United in round four awaiting the winners of this evening's tie.

And Hughes has no intention of making the same mistake as Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez, whose decision to rest a host of top stars backfired on him at Burnley last night when the Reds crashed out 1-0.

"I've always viewed this competition as something we want to progress in," said Hughes, who will name his strongest possible team to face the Bluebirds.

"We haven't had a run in this competition for a number of years and I think the fans enjoy cup competitions so a cup run would be good for us.

"Our league form is okay at the moment and I'm of the opinion that when you're on a decent run of form, you want to win every game you're involved in and that includes cup matches.

"If we get through this one tonight then we have another home game against lower league opposition so this is a good opportunity for us.

"But Cardiff are a good side, they're playing well at the moment, and we'll have to play well to get through."

Rovers and Cardiff drew 1-1 when the two sides met in the orginal tie at Ninian Park 11 days over.

Although Rovers will start tonight's replay as the clear favourites to go through, Hughes has warned his players not to treat the Championship side too lightly.

"Cardiff will feel as though they've got a chance," said Hughes.

"They played well against Leeds at the weekend in front of a big crowd so they're used to performing in volatile atmospheres so the atmosphere at Ewood won't faze them.

"They've got players who have played at international level for me in front of 70,000 at the Millennium Stadium so they've got a lot of experience in that respect."

Tickets for tonight's game are available right up to kick off and fans may get their first glimpse of Robbie Savage - who could be paraded on the pitch - if he completes his move at some point today.

Aaron Mokoena, Rovers' new £300,000 signing from Racing Genk, is also expected to make his home debut for the club.
