HEYSHAM Atoms' coach Dave Crow says he is desperate for a game before his frustrated players 'kill' each other.

Crow's men were left kicking their heels again on Saturday when Widnes Tigers called their game off less than three hours before the scheduled kick-off at Trimpell.

They claimed to have a flu bug sweeping through their team meaning the Atoms were awarded an 18-0 win.

But Crow (pictured) says that is little consolation. The last time the Atoms took to the field was December 11 and they just want a match.

"It's frustrating for everyone," he told the Citizen. "We were revved up for the game then the phone call came at 11.20 - they could at least have let us know on Friday.

"I want a game and the lads want a game; they are desperate to play and if we don't get a game soon they may start killing each other in training.

"I am not sure if teams want to make the journey up here; some of them don't seem to keen on the long trip - but we have to make it every other week."

But it's not all bad news for Crow, whose side are having a fine season.

He says: "We have a couple of games in hand and if we win those we will be right up there in the mix at the top."

Crow hopes to send his team out at Trimpell on Saturday when Waterhead roll into town for a 2pm kick off.

"They are only one place above us so it will be a good old game - if we play," smiles the coach.
