LANCASTRIAN'S First squash team had a comfortable victory against Village Prestwich and are now pressing hard for promotion as the second half of the season gets under way.

Only at 1 and 2 did the Village offer any resistance where Graham Collier and Howard Thornley both dropped a game before taking 3-1 victories. Mike Carter met some resistance while still taking a 3-0 win. Mark Taylor and Tod Bulmer enjoyed fairly easy strolls to notch up 3-0 victories.

The Second team played host to Cheetham Hill's up and coming youth team.

In the first game Mike Howard failed to display his usual mobility and narrowly lost 3-2. Gordon Bailey playing at five settled quickly after a tight first game to win 3-0.

In a see-saw game, Jim Toole gave his young opponent too much of a lead in the fifth game, losing 3-2. Lynda Gregory levelled the match by showing good court awareness and matching the pace of the young Cheetham player to win 3-1.

Bob Morgan, playing at one, staged a strong comeback after losing the first two games. In an entertaining game with a display of good squash, Bob couldn't control his determined opponent, losing 3-1. Lancastrian lost the match by three games to two.
