AT the top of the Bury Amateur Billiards League table, St Mary's A whitewashed Seedfield to open up a ten point lead over rivals Walshaw B who didn't have a fixture.

Walshaw A also lost out to St Mary's B, and Dobbies A again lost to their B team.

M. Bennett took on the challenge from J. Garvey and almost managed to hold onto the handicap advantage. Only at the end did Garvey overcome the advantage and win by just five points.

G. Farrington was always in charge of the second game against M. Broadhead, and ran out the winner 125-103. M. Ryder made a whitewash by defeating D. Crook in what proved to be a close game.

Meanwhile at Walshaw, St Mary's B got off to an excellent start as P. Dudley defeated B. Weall. In the second game, R. Vadasz reduced the deficit by defeating P. Hewart 125-105, but the come-back was short lived as B. Woolner won the final game and claimed the aggregate points.

In the derby match at Dobbies, the A team got off to a good start when E. Docker won his first game of the season against I. Street. The A team's hopes of winning the match disappeared in the second game as M. Dean convincingly defeated D. Samuels 125-70. B. Hardman made sure of the points by beating E. Jones 125-110.
