THE Rotary Club of Leigh "Father Christmas" Float raised an unprecedented £10,369 over the Christmas period, breaking the previous year's total by £1400.
This money could not have been raised by Leigh Rotarians without the householders of Leigh digging deeply into their pockets.
The intention was, as usual, for the monies raised to go to, in the main, local charities with a smaller portion going to Rotary International's overseas charitable projects. However, given the dreadful occasion of the Asian Tsunami and its aftermath, it is hoped that everyone who donated will approve of the fact that a sizeable portion will be sent to the Tsunami Appeal, through the Rotary Movement, in the name of Leigh Rotary Club and the people of Leigh.
