SOME of the North-west's finest young gymnastic talent will display their skills at a special open day to be staged in Bury.

The event is being held by Bury Metro Gymnastics Club and will take place at their base at the towns Goshen Sports Centre in Tennyson Avenue on Saturday, January 29 beginning at noon.

Bury's mayor and mayoress, Councillor Barry Briggs and Coun Mrs Sharon Briggs, will be the guests at the open day display.

Those attending the event will be able to watch some of the regions top junior gymnasts performing various routines, including include vault, floor, bars, beam and other disciplines.

The display programme is: 12.15-12.30: Junior boys: vaults; Junior girls: floor; Senior boys (1): bars; Senior girls (1): beam. 12.30-12.45: Senior girls (1): bars; Senior boys (1): rings; Senior girls (2): beam; Senior boys (2): vault. 12.45-1.0: Junior boys: bars; Junior girls: beam; Senior boys and girls (1): floor handstand/mushroom competition; Senior girls (2): vault. 1.0-1.25: tumbling. This programme will be repeated at 1.45pm.

Children are particularly welcome and those wishing to have a go themselves will be invited into the gymnasium from 3pm onwards when the clubs experienced team of coaches will be available to offer instruction. Visitors can also get details of club activities and its development proposals, which will be on display.
