I RECEIVED a heart-rending letter this week - from a dog who wants a loving new home.

Black cross-breed Max is only three-years-old but has had a rough time up to now, being passed from pillar to post and treated cruelly.

The letter states: "I have had several homes and have been beaten. I don't know why because I try to be good. I still love people as I know they are not all bad. All I want is lots of cuddles and a regular walk and in return will be loving and loyal. I can even shake a paw for a biscuit and sit on command. I don't fight with other dogs and adore cats.

"A lady called Sue is taking care of my re-homing and she says that distance is no problem, but a home visit will be required and she will deliver me herself. I am vaccinated and microchipped and she says I will be neutered before I go to my new home. All my love, Max."

Anyone who is willing to make Max's wishes come true can ring Sue Taylor of the charity PUP (Prevent Unwanted Pets) on 01942 671612 or 07776432123 today if possible - to save him being moved on yet again.

Only real dog lovers apply - please.
