THE profile of Leigh Centurions is to increase following their promotion to Super League.

With added media exposure, including three early season home games to be shown live on Sky television, Leigh is to embark on extra interest from the sporting world.

"Leigh as a town will become known all over the globe", said operations manager Mike Callaghan.

"Sky Sports is broadcast over Europe, Australia and New Zealand so we can expect Leigh to receive plenty of media attention.

"It has been 10 years since the club were last in the the top division, which will mean an larger influx of travelling away supporters. They will get to see Leigh for what it is, a town with heritage, history and people that are very proud."

Corporate advertising and hospitality demands are also reaching record breaking levels.

The Centurions have already held two commercial lunches which have resulted in extra interest from previously uncharted sponsors. This news comes as a financial boost having already signed major sponsorship deals with Emirates Airlines, Keg Watch and the House of Sharratt funishing store.

"The corporate department is now operational full time. We are trying to develop partnerships locally and multinationally. First indications show that Leigh Centurions are now being recognised as a viable commercial venture by various blue chip companies", added Mr Callaghan.

With this success, Leigh's club shop has now opened full time. After renevation, a new range of merchandise is in stock accompanied by two new members of staff.

Shop manager Gillian Gorse believes it will be a success. She said: "Sales have been fantastic. There are now items for men, women and children ranging from tracksuits to tatoos. The new club shirt is released in the next couple of weeks and we are expecting huge interest from supporters."

Full details of the official launch of the new home strip are to be announced soon. Leigh Superbowl has been confirmed as the venue although no date has yet been set. Tickets for the event, which includes entry and voucher for the home shirt, are available from the shop. Shirts are priced £40 for adults and £30 for juniors.
