IN the Bury Snooker League Arthur Booth B Section, Walshaw B were visited by local rivals Elton Lib D.

Bill Whittaker took the first frame against Harry Maxon to put the home side 1-0 up, then Chris Hunter levelled the match only for Ian Howarth to put Walshaw back on top.

Shamus King again brought Elton level, but Derek Bury produced a magnificent break of 78 to win the next frame for Walshaw.

This must have had an effect on the visitors as they then lost the final frame and Walshaw won 6-2.

Bury Snooker B had a good win at home to Whitefield Snooker. The first two frames were shared with Mike Turner winning for Bury and Steve Hinds winning for Whitefield.

After that it was all Bury as they rattled off the next four frames to take the match 7-1.

Huntley C travelled to Tottington C but came home with just two frames, thanks to Ste Turnbull and Tony Walsh.

Ash Pilsworth and Barry Smith gave the home side the first couple of frames before Huntley took the next.

Pete Wilding took the next only for Huntley to reduce the deficit again, but then Carl Johnson finished the match off with a comfortable 82-31 win in the final frame.

Salisbury B continued their good form, running out 7-1 winners at home to Radcliffe Central B.

It was the visitors that took the opening frame, thanks to Neil Craven, but this was to be their only win on the night.

Michael Campbell, Mick Burke snr, Jason Smith, Paul Ramaul and Dave Angulin all registered wins for Salisbury to give them the match.

It was an equally good nights work by Radcliffe St. Mary's, who were at home to Tottington B.

They ran out 8-0 winners with a century win by Jim Coleman, a black ball win by Pete Dudley and two other frames with 30-point margins.

In the C Section there was another impressive win by Bury Snooker D, who were at Bury Bridge.

Josh Cornwell took the opener for Bury Snooker, which was quickly followed by wins from James Fletcher, Danny Brejwo and Mike Nortley.

Anthony Nolan pulled one back for the home side but Chris Holmes finished the match off for Bury Snooker for a convincing 8-1 win.

Stanley B continued their climb towards promotion with a hard fought victory over Hollins.

Dave Holt took the opening frame with some ease, only for Dean Higgins to pull the next one back for Hollins when he beat John Booth.

Dennis Lomas had a narrow black ball win and Dave Bennett beat Bob Capron to put Stanley into a 3-1 lead.

However, Hollins then took the next two frames, coming from Ian Trow and Alan Evason to level the scores, but they had not done quite enough on the aggregate and Stanley took the extra points and the win.

Stanley A suffered 5-3 defeat away at Buchanans. Jason Taylor took the opener for the home team only for Duncan Stone and Andy Birchall to take the next two for Stanley.

Deal Alston then had a comprehensive win over Tony Filidoro to put Buchanans level, but this was countered by an equally good win by Charlie Goddard.

Paul Lomax then took the final frame for Buchanans and by a sufficient enough margin to take the aggregate and the match.

Struggling Tottington A suffered another defeat, this time at home to Radcliffe St Mary's.

Jim Garvey got the visitors off to a good start but Tottington levelled the match in the next frame.

Radcliffe took the next two but Tottington again pulled one back, this time through John Mawdsley in a black ball game.

Radcliffe were not going to be denied though and Simon Bowkett finished the match off when beating Dean Barlow.

Radcliffe Central came back from last weeks defeat to take a 5-3 win at home to Seedfield Bowling.

They lost the opening frame when Mike Turta beat Zia Aslam. The Greens then put Radcliffe 2-1 up and this was followed by a further win by Bry Wolstenholme to extend the lead.

Then it was the turn of The Morgans to stage a fightback as they took the last two to make it 3-3, but it was not enough and Radcliffe took the aggregate.

There was a bit of a surprise at Huntley B, who were visited by Walmersley C with the visitors going away with a 7-2 win.

The writing must have been on the wall when the away team took the first two frames, which were both quite close, thanks to Mike Brejwo and Adam Eatough.

Paul Gill took the third for Huntley but the fourth went to Walmersley. Shaun Hodgkinson took the next for Huntley but the match was then finished off by Kieran Cunningham and Walmersley were the winners.

In the A Section, Fishpools poor season continued as they were beaten 6-2 at Bury Snooker.

The home side were 4-0 up, thanks to Tom Gay, Ray Hobman, Neville Spivey, and Mark Burns, before Fishpool won a frame through Sam Thompson.

Fishpool also took the final frame but it was too late and the match was lost.

There was a very close game at Huntley A, where the visitors were Tottington D.

Huntley raced into a 3-0 lead thanks to Darren McHugh, Daz Harrison and John Deardon. John Daulby and Phil Heaton then both had comprehensive wins to put Tottington back in the fixture, but Huntley took the final frame to put them 4-2 up and presumably the match.

But no! Those two wins by Tottington had been large enough to give them the aggregate and the match 5-4.

It was exactly the same story at Walmersley, who were visited by Elton Lib B.

Colin Jones won the opener for Walmersley and James Kay won the next for Elton. Walmersley then took the next three frames and Elton took the last to make it 4-2 to the home side. Unfortunately that last frame was won by 40 points and this was enough to give Elton the match.

Walshaw A travelled to Elton Lib C and came very close to coming away with the points.

Paul and Andy Davis put Walshaw 2-0 up but this was soon wiped out as Elton took the next three. Matt Gilmore beat Russ Howarth in the last frame to make it 3-3, but the home team had it by 11 points to take the aggregate.

Salisbury A went to Heywood Reform on the back of a win the previous week but were unable to match this against a strong Heywood team.

They won the opening frame but lost the next two before Douglas Fairbairn made it 2-2.

However, Jim Noble and Pete Morley won the last two for Heywood to give them the points.

THERE are no winners of the Fork Lift Training Rollover as Radcliffe St. Marys A and Bury Snooker D both had 12 points
