IN the first half Trafford played against the wind but kicked well under pressure.

Sedgley finished the half strongly, but Trafford soaked up the pressure and cleared their lines time after time.

A bad facial injury to Rob Ede (flanker) half way through the half forced Sedgley to use their only substitute, Danny Adamson (prop), therefore a major reshuffle of the Sedgley forwards was required.

They were already without Matt Lamprey (No. 8), so the balance was severely affected.

Trafford started the second half strongly and kicked at every opportunity, pinning Sedgley back into their own half, but just like the first half, no team seemed to be able to break the deadlock.

Then two-thirds through the half, Jordan Pearson was yellow-carded for retaliating and Trafford converted the resultant penalty.

Sedgley then went all out to score, pinning Trafford back into their own half, but they used the wind advantage to kick the ball, thus relieving the pressure.

A man down and five minutes to go, Sedgley stretched themselves too far and when a passing movement broke down 15 metres from the Trafford line, their backs managed to kick and dribble the ball the full length of the field to score a scrappy try which they converted.

On balance, Trafford deserved the win, adapting their game to the windy conditions better than Sedgley, but a more fitting scoreline would have been 0 - 3.
