WILMSLOW ALBION 0 PRESTWICH HEYS 1: When the call came through at 11.30am to inform Heys that the game was on, a huge sigh of relief went round the clubhouse and a welcome smile from the players, as it was over seven weeks since the first team last had a fixture.

Apart from the addition of former Under 18s star Stevie Howson it was the same Heys squad that won at Stockport Georgians in the last fixture, and from the kick-off they took the game to the hosts.

With 15 minutes gone they should have been 3-0 up, with Dale Fielding, Lee Coldridge and Carl Lomax all guilty of missing chances.

As expected after the bright start it was Wilmslow who had the better of the next 20 minutes, but with Dydyna, Walters, Doran and Cunningham in the Heys defence, and Tommy Allen marshalling his back four superbly, Heys always looked like keeping a clean sheet and retaining the best goals against record in the league.

As the game wore on Heys finished the half the stronger, with Abbid Uddin bringing an excellent save out of Wilmslow goalkeeper Collins to keep the scoreline at 0-0 going into the break.

Manager Adie Moran decided to change the shape of the side and bring off one of his defenders and put on an extra attacker, with John Garrick replacing Marcus Dydyna.

A draw would not have been good enough if Heys are to catch leaders Irlam MS, who are 14 points ahead of them, even though Heys have five games in hand.

Heys started the second half as they finished the first, with missed chances from Lomax, Uddin and Garrick, which produced more outstanding saves from Collins.

There were 20 minutes left when Heys brought on Hutchinson and Howson for Coldridge and Slater, and they continued to find Collins in superb form.

Not to be outdone, Tommy Allen in the Heys goal was then forced to pull off an equally impressive save of his own.

The scare prompted Heys to produce a good counter attacking move which finished with Garrick timing his run to perfection and finishing in style with four minutes to go.

The last four minutes of normal time and three of injury time were played without either side getting a chance on goal, and when the referee brought the game to the end it was a welcome three points going back to the Heys clubhouse.
