IN reply to Mrs E Beach (LET, January 18) I would like to ask her why God should come to the rescue of a world that has mostly rejected him? We are taught that the world was formed by evolution not God yet when something as tragic as this happens people soon start blaming God who many of them don't believe in.

Interestingly God doesn't believe in atheists. "The fool has said in his heart there is no God." The fact is God will not stay where he is not wanted and this nation in the majority and the rest of the world want nothing to do with him.

Regarding her point about innocent people being caught up in wars. Innocence implies that one has never done anything wrong and is not guilty. However I would suggest none of us are innocent as The Bible states. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

Rather than blaming God it would be wise for Mrs Beach and the rest of the unbelievers to take the tsunami as a call to repentance. In end when we die we all will have to face God in judgment whether we believe it or not, just search your conscience. It cannot be denied.
