WE have had a quiet time at the society recently with the Christmas break and "handing in night" for members' work for this year's Annual Exhibition.

On Thursday, January 13 we had a viewing of the Royal Photographic Society (RPS) 2004 Creative Group portfolio, this created some discussion as a lot of members thought it wasn't very good and some of the images were not even creative. When one considers that these people all have distinctions such as ARPS and FRPS to their names it was a little disappointing.

On Saturday February 5 the mayor, Councillor Barry Briggs will open our Annual Exhibition for 2005 at the Met in Haymarket Street. The exhibition will be open every Wednesday from 10am until 4pm. If we can get volunteers to staff the Met it will also be open on Saturdays, same times. Hopefully next year we will be back in the art gallery.

Last night we had an audio visual evening with Boyd Harris ARPS from Chorley entitled The Annapurna Circuit.

The final round of the bi-monthly slide competition was held on the week prior to Christmas and this was won by Barrie Kelly.
