AVID bird watchers are being urged to keep an eye on their back gardens and take part in the world's biggest birdwatch on January 29-30.
Big Garden Birdwatch is an annual event organised by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) to try and find the most commonly seen garden birds. Last year, more than 8,000 people took part in Greater Manchester with the starling being crowned the king of the garden.
This year's survey will also allow the RSPB to discover how birds in Greater Manchester compare to the rest of the UK and if any species are declining.
To take part, people are being asked to spend one hour counting the birds in their garden or local park and record the highest number of each bird species seen at any one time.
