ANOTHER year has seen another crisis develop at our football club and there is a lot of activity both in front of, and behind, the scenes at Gigg Lane.

No doubt items mentioned here will have been publicised elsewhere but no harm will be done by mentioning them again.

There is going to be a special meeting for all supporters at the Gigg Lane Social Club at 7.45pm on Thursday, January 27, when Neville Neville will detail what is happening at the football club to tackle the financial trouble and what steps are being taken to prevent similar events recurring in the future.

Anyone with our club at heart will want to attend this meeting and to assist in its recovery.

Consequently, the David Conn evening, which was scheduled for Monday, February 7, has now been postponed, due to the fact that the re-arranged Shrewsbury Town game will now take place on Tuesday February 8.

Conn wrote the best-selling book "The Football Business: Fair Game in the 90's", questioning the direction in which professional football was moving following the sudden influx of Sky TV millions into the top echelons of the game.

His latest book: "The Beautiful Game? Searching for the Soul of Football," has just been published, examining more disturbing trends in the game which was the sport of the British working man, but which is now being priced out of the reach of many people

A breakdown of telephone connections last week prevented a report appearing of the exploits of the Forever Bury fans football team being forwarded to the Bury Times.

More about the lads later but at this times, just to mention that the Forever Bury fans team has a match this Saturday (January 22) against the Northampton Supporters' team, which will be played at Redvales, kick-off 10.30am.

The team was in action last weekend at Scunthorpe, where they beat the Iron's supporters 4-0.

This weekend our lads should be resplendent in their new kit, obtained with the help of "Hatchet" the independent Bury FC fanzine.
