THE president and members of the Rotary Club of Bury Irwell Vale would like to thank everyone who donated to our 2004 Christmas float charity appeal, which raised more than £1,300.
Following the horrific news of the tsunami earthquake disaster, we immediately used a large part of this money to provide two Rotary shelter boxes. These have already been sent to the devastated area and a third box will follow shortly. Each Rotary shelter box contains equipment to provide shelter, warmth, cooking and sleeping facilities for ten people. Once empty the 40-gallon plastic box can be put to other uses, most importantly to store and purify water using the tablets provided.
Once again, our thanks to all who supported us.
ROTARIAN ROBERT WATSON
