I HAVE just learned that the local authority are widening Manchester Road, Bury, between Redvales and Gigg Lane so that they can accommodate four lanes of traffic.
Has it ever occurred to the cretins running the town hall that traffic frequently grinds to a halt further up Manchester Road? I suppose that now we, the hapless pedestrians, will have to try crossing the road through four lanes of traffic during the rush-hour, and take our chances with the race-track drivers at other times.
And obviously the effects of increased atmospheric pollution have not been taken into consideration, so will we be issued with smog-masks courtesy of the the council?
I always knew this lot had more money than sense.
BRENT D. PEARSON,
Redvales Road, Bury.
