SO, with the benefit of hindsight, Ivan Lewis can now see the traffic congestion caused by the council on Bury New Road.

May I suggest that he, or any other councillor, joins my friends and myself in our local pub where we would show how basic common sense works in the art of foresight. Anyone with an ounce of "nous" could have predicted what is now happening.

There are too many traffic lights, pelican crossings and cycle lanes, and it was stupid to allow parking on Bury New Road.

Has Ivan lewis been to America where they have a remarkable system called a freeway? Making Bury New Road a freeway would alleviate the problems, as would the removal of some of the other obstacles mentioned.

Bury New Road and Bury Old Road should be freeways from Manchester to Bury, especially in the rush hours.
