BURY FC are potentially in financial trouble again.

And anyone who follows football will know that the cause of this lies with the greed of the Premiership, the major television companies, and those at the Football League who were in power at the time and capitulated to the demands of the "big boys".

However, while applauding the many fund-raising activities proposed, I note that there is to be a "Fill the Ground" initiative for the Grimsby game.

As a long-standing season ticket-holder, I appreciate that I may not get to every game for various reasons - including fixtures being moved - but for the second year running, I will be discriminated against because this match has been changed to 3pm on Good Friday. This is one of the most solemn times of the Christian calendar and, as a practising Christian, I will be in church and will therefore miss the game!

Some may say that is my choice. So be it.

However, Bury FC should note that their "Fill the Ground" initiative will therefore have the potential of excluding practising Christians from the same game at a time when they need every supporter they can get through the turnstiles.

Come on Bury, let's have some joined-up thinking here. After all, you didn't have that far to go to learn about this sort of thing - just ask the club chaplain!
