THE dog-fouling situation along both sides of Heywood Road, Prestwich - from the junction of Bury Old Road as far as Polefield Road - is an absolute disgrace.

Despite the fact that there are numerous "no dog-fouling" signs positioned all along each side of this road, many dog owners continue to show complete contempt for the law.

As a resident of Heywood Road, I find myself clearing the pavement of this disgusting mess almost daily. Why should I, have to do this outside my home in the 21st century?

After many, many complaints from myself, and from my neighbours, the council dog warden does regularly visit the area. The problem is that when the dog warden van is visible the offenders stay away!

The worst time for dog-fouling is between 6-8am and 6-10pm. Why cant we have the dog warden round at these times? And it is no use the dog warden siting in his/her van; they must be patrolling on foot (preferably with his/her uniform hidden until a dog-fouler has been confronted).

Another suggestion would be to make use of the street surveillance camera at the junction of Bury Old Road and Heywood Road. After all, these cameras have been placed there to serve our communities, have they not?

It is clear that some dog owners are not bothered about blatantly breaking the laws. So the only way these people are going to stop breaking the law, is by being brought to account and by the council using their full powers to bring this about.

So come on Bury Council, lets have some action taken against these disgusting people!
